I found out that they just posted a survey for Crimson Crisis and I recommend everyone take the survey to get their input in.
You can't complain about Yugioh and our Metagame if you haven't done anything to change it.
So take some time and do the survey.

A Bomb drops
While taking a survey, I was given 3 questions that are all VERY VERY important to our metagame and will shift the game depending on what decisions are made.
Here they are:
1) To add tremendous value or not to add tremendous value,
That is the Question.
The first question they ask is one the yugioh community is currently fighting about.
This question was actually answered differently by Konami and UDE.
- UDE choose to substantially increase the value of cards and make certain cards very difficult to obtain.
- In the OCG(Konami's turf), the Asian equivalent of our metagame, many rare and expensive cards that we have are very cheap.
So a Dark Armed Dragon for instance is less than 5 dollars and is a rare there.
Here, after the price has fallen SIGNIFICANTLY, it still costs 90 dollars for a Dark armed.

Analysis:
As I wrote in a previous article, I think it benefits the community more to have better priced cards and greater availability to certain cards.
If we compare the OCG with the TCG, I'd say Konami's OCG is closer to what is best for the community.
UDE's TCG was basically milking yugioh players for every dime they had and probably removed a large player base because of it.
The best answer lies somewhere in between though and I feel while some sets deserve 20-40 dollar ultra rare cards, the secrets in them should never be worth more than 50.
As for Gold series cards, I'd want them to range around the 50-100 dollar range.
Cards would still be difficult to obtain but these new prices would allow for a bit more flexability.
It would also create a new player base that could obtain cards they previously weren't able to get. This new player base would give more revenue to Konami and at the same time increase the competitive player base of Yugioh.

2) Theme Crazy
I absolutely hate Konami's themes.
I feel these themes:
- 1) Enable lazy players
- 2) Make deck choices a lot easier
- 3) Create a child mentality where the Game owners literally walk you into your own metagame and set you up with a deck. (Thanks Mom and Dad....)
- 4) Create a lack of creativity and originality
- 5) Make combos with older cards harder to do or impossible all together
- 6) Make the older cards of less and less value, causing the card game to loose integrity.
I LOVE cards like Honest that have effects that apply to OLDER cards and more general themes. Honest lets you use all Light monsters for his effect, unlike Judgment Dragon.
The Attribute and Type themes are good enough and they allow for originality.
They allow for brand new combos and are the KEYS that OPEN THE DOORS for originality and creativity.
But when Konami starts making specific themes for decks, it completely dilutes the Metagame.
Older cards can no longer be comboed as well with these new cards and the new cards are too easily comboed with one another.
These themes have to go, they ruin the Yugioh Metagame, and belittle the Yugioh player base.
We can be original, we can innovate, and we don't need Konami to hold our hands, especially now that Metagame.com and it's notorious Tournament reports / deck lists are gone.
I don't see how we can be creative if a theme is created and we're barely able to combo any of the new cards with the old ones.

3) Length of Card Text
This isn't that big of an issue and I've never had much of a problem reading the card text.
The gemini monsters, which seem to have the biggest card texts, are getting close to the limit though. Yet even these behemoths of text are still o.k on my grading scale.
I do believe though that they should use a few more symbols or words, to lower the card text, but they need to make sure not to go overboard on this.
By few, I do mean a few, because the yugioh community doesn't want to have to memorize 5 new symbols, especially if they aren't very helpful.
The only symbol I could think of at the moment that would be truly necessary would be a Gemini one. Anything else would probably be unnecessary and hurtful to the community .

The Community Matters
I personally am surprised they asked these questions and I'm glad they wanted the communities' input on them.
The decisions they make will greatly affect the community at large and it's nice to know they're taking our input before they make any harsh decisions.
Overall I'm very pleased on how Konami is managing this complete takeover and I'm upset UDE had to ever be involved in this game in the first place.
Lets hope they continue to make the right decisions for the community at large, so the greatest number of players can have the greatest amount of success and fun while playing this game.
