Frog Decks

I think it's time for Frogs to shine...
Why, you say? Well, let's take a list at all the options they have :

Monsters :

- Submarine Frog. With Wetlands, it becomes a piercing monster able to confront even Monarchs. And piercing is always a good thing to have, especially on a powerful monster.
- Flip Flop Frog. Reminds me of a watered-down Brionac, as it can only shuffle monsters back to hand, but the effect is usable at will, seeing how it can set itself back. And it will be able to get any Frog in your Deck or Graveyard, thus making itself another powerhouse of the deck.
- Dupe Frog. Forcing your opponent to attack a 2000 DEF monster before everything else is fun, especially is the 2000 DEF monster is protected from destruction by the effect of Substitoad. And having him with the name of Des Frog allows massive destruction, as this card can be used with Inferno Reckless Summon.
- Substitoad. Can search every frog of your deck, thus giving you a taste of what toolboxes can do. Protecting your frogs from being destroyed in battle is a plus, enabling Dupe Frog to be an unbreakable shield and Submarine Frog to freely confront Monarchs.
- Unifrog. Frog's Bestiari/Breaker/Lyla. In addition, it can attack directly your opponent's LP, an useful thing when he/she's hiding behind Spirit Reaper.
- Treeborn Frog. Surpringsly, this beast, known to be played in Monarch decks, won't see a lot of play in Frog decks, except those revolving around Des Frog's destructive possibilities.
- Poison Draw Frog. Allows to draw, and serves as fuel for Substitoad's search effect. Nothing more to say, as it's a good thing on its own.
- T.A.D.P.O.L.E. Thins the deck and powers up Beelze Frog.
- Beelze Frog. One of the rare frogs that isn't powered up by Wetlands. It's a shame, as it could be the main powerhouse of the deck.
- Des Frog. Not powered up by Wetlands. Allows copies of itself to be brought on the field, thus shouting "Des Croaking" and total destruction, but needs T.A.D.P.O.L.Es for that.
- D.3.S. Frog. Once you've clean the field, you can have a 3000 beatstick you can De-Fusion at will, if you need to use Des Croaking once again. Shame Treeborn Frog is limited, or else it would be more interesting.
- Star Boy. Not only it is powered up by Wetlands, thus bringing it to a whopping 2250 ATK power, but it also powers up Frogs. Submarine Frog could even kill Goyo Guardian with one of these and Wetlands on the field.
- Mother Grizzly. Being able to fetch any Frog for battle is always a good thing.
- Junk Synchron. Yeah, Yusei's card can also be played in it, allowing to summon back Poison Draw Frog, then to Synchro Summon with it for a highly-powered Junk Warrior and a free card.

Spells :

- Wetlands. The card that make Frogs a force to be reckoned with. A 1200 ATK boost for every of them is not something to laugh about. Just try to get it as soon as possible, mainly by the use of Terraforming.
- Des Croaking. If you play Dupe Frog and/or Des Frog, it's always a good trump card to have on your hand, seeing the destructive potential this card has.
- Salvage. Fetch two Frogs from your Graveyard is always a plus, mostly when it's Dupe Frog and Substitoad.
- Level Limit - Area B. Forcing your opponent's monsters to stay in Defense Position is always a hinder, especially when you can hit them strongly with Submarine Frog

Traps :

- Froggy Forcefield. A Mirror Force that needs the presence of a Frog. Enough said.
- Graceful Revival. This cards seems to be meant as a Call of the Haunted for Skull Servant decks, but Frogs can use it too and the same way.
- Gravity Bind. Stopping your opponent's attacks is always a plus. Stopping them permanently is a good plus.

See Frogs are not as weak as they seemed to be.

Main ways of playing them :

You basically have four options for playing them : With or without Des Croaking, and with or without Junk Synchron and Junk Warrior. Playing with Des Croaking kinda forces you to play Des Frog AND Dupe Drog, and for more support, you can add D.3.S. Frog and Treeborn Frog, as play without it gives you more place to have fun with some frogs you wouldn't add otherwise. The Junk addition kinda forces you to remove Gravity Bind and Level Limit - Area B from the deck, but the addition is an easily-summoned monster that can easily go over the 5000 ATK power.

My opinion about this theme :

I first thought at the frogs as useless and weak creatures, with fun effects but without the strength that can carry these effects far enough for the win. I quickly changed my mind with Light of Destruction and the coming of Wetlands, Froggy Forcefield, Unifrog and Substitoad, and the new support cards coming from The Duelist Genesis and Crimson Crisis confirmed my change of mind, and now, Frogs are one of my favourite themes, behind Dragons and Machines.

Well, hope this wall of text will convince you of the power of those little frogs.

Your comment on Junk Synchron and Poison Draw Frog is incorrect. If you send the frog to the graveyard for a synchro summon, the last thing to occur is is the summon of the synchro monster, causing your Draw Frog to miss the timing for the optional trigger effect.

Ya he is correct, since the Frog is optional I believe. But you should make a decklist to go with this. A Decklist definitely makes it worth reading, again I could help with this site if wanted
