Raging Battle Preview - Raging Dragons

Yeah, it's an article about Raging Battle's new Dragons. I'll review the six of them, plus Divine Leviadragon - Gishilnodon, seeing how it helps a lot.

Strong Wind Dragon
Wind/Dragon/6/2400/1000
This card cannot be destroyed in battle by a monster with the same attack. When this card is successfully Tribute Summon by tributing a Dragon-type monster, increase this card's attack by half the attack of the Tributed Dragon-type monster. When this card attacks a Defense-position monster, and this monster's ATK is higher than the opponent monster's DEF, deal battle damage to opponent equal to the difference.

Well, what we have here ? A monster whose stats equal Monarchs, one of the actual Tier 1 decks' powerhouses, and who can destroy them without fearing destruction in battle, without any help from its effect (understand "If summoned by King Dragun or Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon"). In addition, its second effect, if you have the opportunity to play it, will sometimes make it overly powerful (seeing you can tribute monsters like Val'Dalgyon, once they hit the field after their effect), and the third one will make the opponent think twice before setting any monster. A great offensive Dragon, if given the opportunity to strike.

Koa'ki Meiru Drago
Wind/Dragon/4/1900/1600
The controller of this card sends a [Steel Core of Core Chimail] from his hand to the Graveyard or reveal a Dragon-type monster from his hand during each of his End Phases. Destroy this card if either was not done. When this card is face-up on the field, LIGHT and DARK monsters cannot be Special
Summoned.

This monster is actually quite funny. While it will contradict with some monsters such as Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and Van'Dalgyon, having it on the field after both are one will ensure your Lightsworn opponents will have a HARD time getting back the upper hand, seeing they will lose many things, including Judgment Dragon, as long as Drago is on the field. Be sure to protect this little monster, though, as Lightsworn main body goes easily over his 1900 ATK, and Celestia will love to destroy it.

Lava Dragon
Fire/Dragon/4/1600/1200
Tribute this face-up defense card on your field to Special Summon a Dragon-type monster with level 3 or less from your hand or your Graveyard.

Seeing how powerful some Dragon-type monsters may be (Masked Dragon, Decoy Dragon, Exploder Dragon being the first ones coming into my mind), having means to Special Summon them without Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon always helps. But it'll see its best uses in any Dragon deck maining King Dragun and/or not playing Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon.

Dragon's Vanguard
Earth/Dragon/4/1700/1300
Send a Dragon-type monster from hand to Graveyard to increase this card's attack strength by 300. When this card on your field is destroyed by an opponent's card effect and sent to Graveyard, you can Special Summon a Normal Dragon-type monster from either player's Graveyard.

This little baby will be LOVED by Blue-Eyes and Red-Eyes players, seeing how it has the possibility to bring back their favourite monsters. In addition, it'll make your opponent think twice about spamming effects. Think about it as a Geartown-like monster, you'll understand more its power.

Explode Wing Dragon
Dark/Dragon - Synchro/7/2400/1600
Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Dragon type monster(s)
When this card battles with a face-up monster on the field with ATK lower than this card's ATK, you can destroy that monster without calculating damage, and deal damage to opponent equal to the attack of the destroyed monster.

I love that baby ! It bypasses resistance from being destroyed in battle, some nasty effects, and deals damage in addition. A pity it has only 2400 ATK, but with its effect and some strength support, this powerful Dragon will surely be a great addition to your team. Definitely a must-be in any Dragon Extra Deck.

Trident Dragon
Fire/Dragon - Synchro/10/3000/2800
Dragon-type Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Dragon-type monster(s)
This card can only be Special Summoned by Synchro Summon. When this card is successfully Synchro Summoned, you can destroy up to 2 cards on your field. During the battle phase of this turn, this card can attack one more time for each card destroyed.

This is just devastating. Every Dragon deck able to make Level 10 (Magna + Level 8 or Debris + Level 6 are easiest combinaisons) can have access to its power, and your own field destruction is not a problem when you have ways to counter it (such as Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon's effect for recovering a Dragon destroyed by Trident's effect) or dead cards in hand you can set before Synchro Summoning Trident.

Divine Leviadragon - Gishilnodon(a.k.a Sea Dragon Lord Gishilnodon )
Water/Sea-Dragon - Synchro/5/2300/1800
Tuner + 1 non-Tuner level 3 monster
When one (or more) Level 3 or less monster(s) is (are) sent to Graveyard from the field, this card's attack strength becomes 3000 until End Phase of that turn.

Seeing how easily Dragon-type players can have :
- Level 2 tuner + Level 3 non-tuner (for the example, Magna Drago + Exploder Dragon)
- Means to recover every turn the Level 3 non-tuner (Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon's effect)
- Means to easily lose the recovered Level 3 non-tuner (Exploder Dragon's effect)
...It's easy to see that you'll have a nearly-permanent 3000 ATK monster on your field ! Sure, it won't benefit from King Dragun's protection, but you'll still have Prime Material Dragon and Stardust Dragon if you want to make this beautiful Sea-Dragon the powerhouse of your Dragon Deck. Definitely a must-have for every deck whose base is mostly made of Level 3 monsters, as its effect works for any Level 3 monster destroyed.

Well, that's it for the article. I'll update it if any Dragon monster is announced on the TCG exclusives, but outside of that, that's all.
