American Duel Terminals - Duel Terminal - Preview (DTP1-EN031)

(A new powerful low level synchro that will have you changing your deck so you can bring him out over the ever popular Goyo Guardian. He has come to forcefully bring justice to the land and he dares you to try and stop him.)

Finally the much anticipated Duel Terminals have hit American shores.

In Anaheim California at a local tournament store called Three J's, 2 duel terminals have been set up. While these terminals have been considered previews meant for testing, their placement opens up the possibility of many more duel terminals around the country.

Game Modes

There are 4 options but only 2 game modes. They are:
  • 1) Action Duel
  • 2) Speed Duel
  • 3) Tutorial
  • 4) Card only Get
The first option is just a regular duel.

~~~
Speed Duels
For the second option you start with:
  • * 3000 Life Points
  • * 3 cards in your hand
  • * 10 cards in your Main Deck
  • * 3 Monster Card Zones
  • * 3 Spell & Trap Card Zones
  • * Certain rule elements omitted (for example, no Damage Step in the Battle Phase.)
There is no Field Spell Card Zone, nor is there a graphical representation of the Graveyard, Main Deck, Fusion Deck or Removed from Play Zone.
Tutorial Mode and Card Only Get
The tutorial mode simply teaches you how to play the Speed Duel with Kaiba as your instructor.
The card only get mode is the special option mentioned above that allows you to quickly get a card from the terminal without having to duel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ally of Justice Catastor

He's one of the reasons we're excited about these terminals. Just check out his effect:

1 Tuner + 1 or more Non Tuner monsters
If this card battles a non-DARK monster, destroy that monster without applying damage calculation.

Auto destruction for any and all non dark monsters who dare to challenge his might.
He can easily turn around games and is easily synchro summoned thanks to his low level.

There is a bit of sad news about Catasor though. It has been confirmed that if you're one of the lucky few to get this card out of the terminals that he is not legal for play. The cards at these terminals will only be legal once they are mass produced. When that will happen, no one exactly knows or can confirm it right now.

Mass production does indicate though that probably at some point your local tourney might have a special duel terminal just like Three J's.

Catastor's Price

We were just as curious as you were when it came to the price of Catastor.

So as usual when UniMetagame checks prices: we headed over to ebay and found that the cheapest buy it now Catastor is currently going for $75 with free shipping.

A very hefty price for a card that currently can't be played. If anything the price shows the strength Catastor possesses and the rarity it carries.

To find the prices for more cards check out our price list which is updated frequently. Suggest cards in the comments if you find that the card you want is not listed on the price list.

Final Thoughts

Lets hope each and every Yugioh player gets a chance to play these Duel Terminals soon.
Although they haven't been mass produced yet, at least we know they will mass produce them at some point.

Til then the lucky few in Southern California get a rare glimpse at the future of dueling and a chance to get that rare Catastor.

If time allows, UniMetagame and crew will head down to Three J's and take some pictures of the terminals to share with the Yugioh Community. Luckily for us, most of the team is based in the Southern California area and only a short drive away from Anaheim.

This card is another reason that My Body as a Shield should be mained in almost every deck.

Funny enough, the next spotlight is My body as a shield, because of how good it is in our metagame and because it's rarely played nowadays.

Rarely played? I've been using it since the end of the TeleDAD format! Great card for protecting my LS swarms (what, innovation with LS?!).

You should profile Forbidden Chalice as well. Great, versatile card that has a TON of uses.
