Once again Konami asks us how we feel about a pack and once again their prove that they deeply care about the state of their game.
Take the survey now if you haven't. If you don't take it soon it will expire like all the others and you will have lost your ability to give input to Konami.
Survey
You have no right to complain about the game if you haven't tried to change it in every way possible so click the above link to take the survey and make your voice heard.
~~~~~~~~~
Key points mentioned in survey
1) Sneak peaks at hobby league stores
Almost everyone I've spoken to continues to support the sneak peaks at hobby league stores.
Having them at the stores:
- 1) Saves time driving to the convention center
- 2) Makes for a quicker tournament that doesn't take up your whole day
- 3) Allows considerably more people to participate who were unwilling or unable to go to the large convention centers.
- 4) No waiting in long lines for long periods of time.
There are a few downsides as well
- 1) Unable to meet as many new people and duel new opponents
- 2) Unable to trade with as many people
- 3) Considerably increases the risk of store owners selling packs before their release. (Nearly unheard of when convention centers were in charge)
On both counts I wasn't very interested because the above monsters needed a lot of investment to bring out and only an above average amount of reward.
Only one Earthbound immortal is really worth playing and that's Earthbound Immortal - Aslla Piscu.
3) Question 18 of the survey returns to an old question
Themes themes and more themes. My previous thoughts about the same question:2) Theme Crazy
I absolutely hate Konami's themes.
I feel these themes:
- 1) Enable lazy players
- 2) Make deck choices a lot easier
- 3) Create a child mentality where the Game owners literally walk you into your own metagame and set you up with a deck. (Thanks Mom and Dad....)
- 4) Create a lack of creativity and originality
- 5) Make combos with older cards harder to do or impossible all together
- 6) Make the older cards of less and less value, causing the card game to loose integrity.
I LOVE cards like Honest that have effects that apply to OLDER cards and more general themes. Honest lets you use all Light monsters for his effect, unlike Judgment Dragon.
The Attribute and Type themes are good enough and they allow for originality.
They allow for brand new combos and are the KEYS that OPEN THE DOORS for originality and creativity.
But when Konami starts making specific themes for decks, it completely dilutes the Metagame.
Older cards can no longer be comboed as well with these new cards and the new cards are too easily comboed with one another.
These themes have to go, they ruin the Yugioh Metagame, and belittle the Yugioh player base.
We can be original, we can innovate, and we don't need Konami to hold our hands, especially now that Metagame.com and it's notorious Tournament reports / deck lists are gone.
I don't see how we can be creative if a theme is created and we're barely able to combo any of the new cards with the old ones.
(Previous full article here)
So please Konami, do away with these themes and support our attributes, rituals, fusions, and types.
Final Thoughts
It's nice to know the game we all invested in truly cares about how it's players feel.
There are so many other games out there that would pay untold amounts of money for just this single attribute of Yugioh.
Versus system is a good example of a game with amazing potential that died simply because the creators refused to listen to the players and balance the game.
We should appreciate these surveys and welcome packs like the turbo pack which hinge on player participation.
Raging battle was a great pack, lets hope they keep the momentum going with Ancient Prophecy and Stardust Overdrive.
Btw anyone else loving their Gold series 2 packs or what? :D
While I still believe themes should exist in the game, there needs to be a set with nothing but "generic" cards. Stuff like:
- Trap Stun
- G.B. Hunter
- Forbidden Chalice
- Level Warrior
- Magic Planter
- Natural Tune
- Supremacy Berry
Just make a set containing nothing but cards like those and we'd be set for quite a while.
I think your strategy might be the best, when it comes to the middle road and being more practical.
It's less extreme than stopping all themes and would make both sides happy.
Lets hope we get a set like you described soon. It would give much needed support to a lot of old teams.
Once again you sing alleluia to konami, just because they do their job and want to know how get the people to buy as much as it is possible. Once again: why are you not more critical toward konami ? Why dont you wait up what it will be in the future ? (We know all metagame made it for upperdeck, but they were on upperdecks payroll - why do you make the same for konami ???).
Turbo pack - wonderfull (you think it). It is new was to get money from us. If konami was so wonderfull then we would get instead
the two missing structure decks light and darkness (crush card in common ,solemn judgment and all the cards that are only in secret now)
Edit: Turbo pack - wonderfull (you think it). It is new way to get money from us
For all that not know, here are the links to spoiler from the light and darkness decks:
The above poster who posted 3 times is asking too much.
To say that a card game does it's job by making these surveys is horribly wrong.
Look at the 100 other games that don't have any player input whatsoever. Magic the gathering would kill for the turbo pack and these surveys.
To say konami is not going out of it's way to support us is to close your eyes to reality.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I think the vast majority of people understand the turbo pack will make konami money, but they appreciate the pack because it also helps the player base.
How does konami ever not make money when releasing cards?
So to say turbo pack is just for money is again to close your eyes to reality.

I will be critical of konami when i see issues.
They had one of the best ban lists in a long time in march, released gold series 2, and made a bunch of cards easy to get in the last 2 packs instead of making them secret rares like UDE.
So what am i supposed to hate or criticize them on?
They will make a mistake eventually and i'll be there to address it.
But as the saying goes, give credit where credit is due.
With the new Forbidden List, TeleDaD and Zombies got hit badly by the nerf bat, and Gladiator Beasts got hit too. Only Lightsworns were really unharmed. So I wonder... what is the future of the meta in Yu-Gi-Oh? Many Decks that were previously overshadowed may rise again....
Well for one, Zombies, Tele-DAD, and Glads are pretty much done now.
Second, there is one thing that many people keep forgetting is that the Banned list you are looking at is from the OCG, not the TCG. The majority of the cards will be the same, but what about the TCG Exclusives. They are not going to be on the OCG list if they are exclusive to the TCG. So Lightsworn is not out of the woods yet, so to speak. I've been hearing rumors that Charge of the Light Brigade might get Limited. It won't totally cripple Lightsworn, but makes it a little more difficult to get what they want.
The main decks I could see topping now are Monarchs, Twilight, and Spellcasters. A lot of people seem to forget that this is a huge set for Spellcasters. You have a brand new Tuner that is better than Night's End Sorcerer and you have a brand new level 9 Synchro that is freaking ridiculous. They will even get better once the Spellcasters Judgment Structure Deck comes out with the new Field Spell and a few other new Spells that will get Spell Counters coming out of your you-know-where. lol.
Fish decks also get a slight boost now with their first ever Tuner. It also helps that it's only the second ever 4 star Tuner. However, you can only use him for a Synchro Summon if it is with another Fish monster. Did I mention that he is also the strongest Tuner to ever be released at 1700 Atk.?
I think the state of the game is in a great period right now, excluding all this crap between KDE and UDE. I mean with Crimson Crisis comes the release of the Assault Mode monsters. It'll be interesting to see how they fit into the mix. Plus the introduction of the Black Feather/Black Wing monsters. However, they won't really see their full potential until Raging Battle comes out in the Summer.
There is a lot of things changing in Yugioh right now. It'll be really interesting to see how things pan out in the end.
At unimategame: I dont say konami make things ONLY for money but I think for some reason (reason I cant imagine) you at unimeta are to much horray for konami. You go for my words but not for facts. Why didnt you answer about the structure decks ? Is it not what would be better as turbo pack ? I think now are interesting times but Upperdeck did it job adequatly (not good but not bad either) and only time can show if konami will make it really so good like you write it.
Things that would let sceptics go:
-release light and darkness structure
- releade duelist terminal in
special packs
- reduce booster to 5 cards and reduce price too (like in japan)
You realise that Konami have only been running the game for a couple of months right?
-release light and darkness structure
the structure decks were from before Konami's takeover. they may backdate, but the cards are all released now.
- releade duelist terminal in
special packs
With the new starter, we got some terminal cards, so we may be getting the cards from decks and packs.
- reduce booster to 5 cards and reduce price too (like in japan)
Awful idea. many parents (remmber, the target audience are kids) may think that packs will not be worth the money with only 5 cards. plus, I believe that in Japan if you pull a holo, you don't get a rare.
If anything, we should get more packs like the turbo pack, that release hard to get cards in an easy to get form.
