Since Metagame bit the dust I really can't find a site that goes and talks about decks and techs as well as different strategies in the game. When I found this site I thought I finally found a good place to hang . . . until I read this article about the black list.

Don't get me wrong. I hate LS and find the deck to be mindless. There is no skill in search, search, mill, mill, drop judgment and win. I don't like seeing good players being beaten by bad players who just get lucky with LS. That said, I STILL think the choice of such a black list is stupid. Yes, LS is gay, but your counter arguements are not presented in a respectful manner. All you do is complain that they are top tier and have no room for innovation. There is NEVER a point where a deck has no innovation. Players should be looking, and encouraged to find new cards, old and new, to put in decks to try things out and find new and interesting combos that work with existing decks. That's what it is to be innovated. Yes, your arguement with being a follower makes sense, but the attitude presented in this article is completely unprofessional and just makes you out to be a ignorant fool. I myself play zombie . . . Light Zombie with skill drain. I don't see that on your list, so don't rip on me for playing a black listed deck.

Anyway, I suggest instead of black listing decks, you should start digging up interesting techs and new insight to arlready existing decks and decks that are just missing that ONE card to break the deck wide open. Yes, be innovated, strive for something different; create the next big deck, but before that; seriously reconsider the way you choose to vocalize your points and arguments.
<link rel='edit' Not only ...

"Gladiator Beasts was an obvious choice. Not only was this a less fun, cheap mans version of lightsworn, but it takes very little skill to play."

This is a pretty foolish statement. I don't play GB's (so save your breath if you plan on attacking me for that) but you're frankly just wrong.

For one, Gladiator Beasts and Lightsworn are completely different decks. LS is an aggressive swarm deck with a reverse toolbox. Gladiator Beasts is an advantage based deck with the ability to lockdown (i.e. "stun") the field. So calling it the "poor man's lightsworn" is a strange statement.

Next, saying it takes "little skill" is completely bogus, and sounds just like ranting. Gladiator Beasts take a TREMENDOUS amount of skill to play. Very few decks need to consider future plays as much as GBs.

Onto the Lightsworn:

"Glad beasts are trumping this deck and doing it on a pretty often basis...The build is too rigid to foster innovation and any true changes to the deck wouldn't count as a deck variation."

Let's not even address the grammar issue with "pretty often basis."

First, GBs are not trumping this deck often, I'm not sure where you're getting this information. At the various locals I've been to, there has been a solid 50/50 win ratio between the two.

The build is most definitely NOT too rigid to foster "innovation" either. You even list twilight as another deck, when even that is typically only 5 cards different from the "standard" LS build. There have been many different innovations on the deck, such as:

-including 3x Aurkus, my body as a shield, and solemn judgment (aka Aurkus Control)

-Teching 3x Volcanic Shell and various discards like Divine Wrath and Lightning Vortex

-Using 3x Thunderking Rai-Oh

-Using Phantom of Chaos

-Using Mezuki, Zombie Master, and Pyramid Turtle
etc etc etc

People are innovating with the deck, you're just choosing not to observe it.

"Plants also have a good number of ways to be innovative but it's hard to spot the really unique decks that don't contain Black Garden."

Once again, you're just wrong. The majority of plant decks I've come across don't even USE black garden, and the ones I've seen that do have been incredibly innovative.

"Zombies are still kicking it seems. Even though the number of players who use this deck have dropped there are the small few who are still running this...I don't see why an innovator would want to play this deck, rather than innovate something of their own which will most likely beat the regular zombie build."

The regular zombie build? That's ridiculous. There is no regular zombie build because the regular zombie build had the key cards restricted. Anyone attempting to build zombies IS innovating because they're LITERALLY "not playing with a full deck."

Finally, you have the nerve to attack decks like twilight saying "they aren't winning" but then suggest decks that use slipheed or "Trap lock-down decks?" How is a trap lockdown deck going to win against a Lightsworn deck running 5 traps? Why would you build a dark deck without using Dark Armed Dragon?

Just because you're an "innovator" doesn't mean you have to attack every player who uses Gladiator Beasts (which is one of the most interesting themes this game has ever seen), and just because you're an "innovator" doesn't mean you can make statements that are completely unsupported (Because then someone like me will point out why they are incorrect.)

Overall, this article makes me very disappointed in unimetagame. I came hoping to see insightful opinions and perspectives never seen before, and instead it's just people complaining about players who use top tier decks. Being mindless about "innovation" is just as bad as being mindless about netdecking.

"Gladiator Beasts was an obvious choice. Not only was this a less fun, cheap mans version of lightsworn, but it takes very little skill to play.

If you really want to find the players that could care less about yugioh and the game, just ask them if they play Glads in this new format.

If they say yes, bingo, you found one!

To play such a rigid, boring, and cheap deck, in one of the MOST innovative formats yugioh has had in a long time, shows how much creatitivity they lack.

You won't find many adults sinking this low, as they will definitley have the cash for lightsworn; a much more fun deck that deserves it's wins."

Look at the SJC tops in GB format, then look at Tele-DAD format.
For some reason, GB format toppers have little variety while Tele-DAD format had new toppers right from the beginning, when there was no build to netdeck off either for others, perfect ground for large teams and regulars.

LS, however, almost completely rely on milling. Sure, you can go double Charge, or Foolish, etc....But in the end, much more luck-dependant than GB, for example. That's not to say those aren't.

Also, throw Soul of Purity and Light into LS and you got Light-based deck with Honest and Soul of Purity and Light.
